Celebrate the 4th of July in Telluride! 🇺🇸

The Telluride 4th of July Parade is the town’s longest-running tradition, celebrating America’s independence with a lively procession of kids, dogs, floats, and more—on Colorado Avenue at 11 a.m.
Telluride, Colorado delivers a uniquely mountain-town Independence Day experience. Against the backdrop of historic Victorian architecture and rugged peaks, here’s your ultimate guide to a red‑white‑and‑blue weekend.
Parade & Morning Events
- Rundola Uphill Race kicks things off at 7:30 a.m. from Gondola Plaza, ascending to San Sophia Ridge.
- The Fourth of July Parade begins at 11 a.m. on Colorado Avenue, marching from Aspen to Willow.
- Expect float-decorated trucks, pets, marching bands, candy tosses—and even a military aircraft flyover.
Town Park Bash
Right after the parade, head to Town Park (500 E Colorado Ave) for a day of fun from 12–4:30 p.m.
- Live bands:
- The Sweet Heavy (12–1 p.m.),
- Gravity’s Child (1:30–2:30 p.m.),
- Niceness (3–4:30 p.m.)
- Family Zone: Classic games—three-legged races, egg-and-spoon, mechanical bull—plus face‑painting and more
- Food & Drinks: Local food vendors, a beer/wine garden, non-profit booths—all part of a festive community atmosphere.
Laser, Drone & Fireworks Spectacular
- At dusk, Town Park lights up with “The Spirit of Independence,” a choreographed laser & drone show — followed by
- A fireworks display at ~9:40 p.m. — capped by “Celebrating Telluride: Past, Present & Future,” a second light/drone show
- Fireworks depend on weather and fire conditions; in case of cancellation, the drone show still dazzles.
Mountain Village Celebration (July 3–4)
Just a quick gondola ride away, Mountain Village hosts the Red, White & Blues event:
- July 3 (1–5 p.m.): Heritage Plaza hosts circus acts, cotton candy, and photo booths.
- July 4:
- Bob Hemenger performs (1–5 p.m. at Sunset Plaza),
- J.D. Clayton’s band plays (5–7 p.m. at Reflection Plaza)
Insider Tips
- Dress in layers: Mornings can be crisp at 8,750 ft elevation; afternoons sunny and dry
- Bring essentials: Portable chairs/blankets, sunscreen, water, snacks.
- Park smart: Lots fill fast—use the free gondola or Galloping Goose shuttle
